Advanced approach - Bridge restoration
When placing a prosthetic bridge after tooth extraction, ridge preservation with Geistlich biomaterials helps to preserve the bone volume and achieve optimal soft-tissue aesthetics under the pontic1.
Clinical case: Bridge placement with preserved buccal bone wall.
Maxillary incisors scheduled for extraction due to caries, inadequate clinical crown length and endodontic infections. Provisional restoration pictured.
Healed implants in the maxillary lateral incisors sites used to support the provisional while central incisors are extracted and grafted with Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen to maintain tissue contour and volume.
Geistlich Mucograft® is trimmed and placed over the occlusal surfaces as a socket seal. Provisional restoration held the pieces in place.
Vascularisation and integration of Geistlich Mucograft® after 2 weeks.
Post-operative situation at 9 months with the final restoration.
Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen and Geistlich Mucograft® Seal show effective soft-tissue augmentation results in extraction sockets with a preserved buccal wall2.
Clinical case: Bridge placement with defect buccal bone wall using Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen and Geistlich Bio-Gide®.
Status following implant placement. Note the local bone defect between the 2 implants.
Bone anatomy was improved by contour augmentation using autogenous bone chips and Geistlich Bio-Oss® granules. In the pontic area Geistlich Bio-Oss® Collagen was used.
The augmentation material was covered by a Geistlich Bio-Gide® membrane in accordance with the GBR principle.
Successful outcome of contour augmentation in the pontic area, status at the 5-year follow-up.
GBR with Geistlich Biomaterials optimises soft-tissue aesthetics for implant-supported bridges. (Statement Prof. Buser, Switzerland)
